Rome Man Arrested for Arson After Suspicious Garage Fire on West Bloomfield Street

ROME, NY – A 25-year-old Rome man was arrested on arson charges following a suspicious garage fire that occurred Friday morning on West Bloomfield Street.

Rome Police responded to 513 West Bloomfield Street at approximately 11:35 AM on June 7, 2025, to assist the Rome Fire Department with a structure fire. The blaze involved a garage and vehicle located on Yozzo Avenue, behind the West Bloomfield Street address.

Rome Fire Department crews quickly extinguished the flames upon arrival. Fire investigators subsequently determined the fire was suspicious in nature and launched an investigation that revealed the blaze was intentionally set.

Through their investigation, authorities identified a suspect in the case. Later that same day, Rome Police located and arrested the individual during a traffic stop.

The suspect has been identified as Skylar G. Gosier, 25, of Rome, New York. Gosier was charged with Arson in the Third Degree, a Class C Felony.

Following his arrest, Gosier was transported to Centralized Arraignment and was released on his own recognizance. No injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Rome Police Department and Rome Fire Department investigators.
