Waverly Man Arrested for Grand Larceny After Allegedly Stealing Thousands from Victim’s Bank Account

OWEGO, NY – New York State Police at Owego have arrested a 42-year-old Waverly man on felony charges after he allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a victim’s bank account using their stolen debit card.

Timothy Davis, 42, of Waverly, was arrested on June 18, 2025, and charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class D felony.

Details of the Investigation

According to New York State Police, the incident came to light on June 10, 2025, when a victim reported discovering unauthorized transactions totaling thousands of dollars from their bank account. The investigation revealed that Davis had allegedly taken the victim’s bank card without permission and used it to make the fraudulent purchases.

Following the report, a State Police Trooper was able to locate and make contact with Davis. He was subsequently arrested and processed at the State Police barracks in Owego.

Legal Proceedings

After his arrest, Davis was transported to the Tioga County Jail where he awaited Centralized Arraignment. Grand Larceny in the Third Degree is classified as a Class D felony in New York State, which carries potential penalties including imprisonment and substantial fines upon conviction.

The case remains under investigation by New York State Police. As with all criminal cases, Davis is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
