Utica Juneteenth 2025: Learn, Connect, Celebrate

Utica, NY — As we prepare to celebrate Juneteenth in 2025, the Mid-Utica Neighborhood Preservation Corporation (MUNPC) invites the community to join a vibrant three-day commemoration of Black freedom, resilience, and joy.

“Juneteenth is not just a date—it’s a declaration of presence and pride,” says Hilda Jordan, Board President of MUNPC. “In Utica, we are proud to be continuing a tradition that predates the national holiday recognition, thanks to the leadership of Robbie Dancy and many others who believed in honoring Black history and future through community celebration.”

What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865—the day enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. First celebrated in Galveston, TX, Juneteenth has since grown into a nationwide tribute to Black liberation, culture, and contribution.

Now in its ninth year, Utica’s Juneteenth celebration promises something for everyone—history, talent, food, music, art, play, and meaningful community reflection.
