POTSDAM, NY – State Police have arrested two men from Massena in connection with a significant theft from the Walmart on US Highway 11 that occurred in late May.
Hunter J. Lamay, 20, and Michael A. Coleman, 23, were arrested on June 7, 2025, following an investigation into a larceny incident that took place on May 30, 2025.
According to the State Police report, troopers responded to a complaint at the Potsdam Walmart at approximately 7:17 p.m. on May 30. The investigation determined that two men entered the store and stole merchandise valued at$2,471.00 by leaving without paying.
Authorities reported that one man exited the store first, while the second pushed a shopping cart full of the unpaid merchandise outside. When they spotted law enforcement, the first suspect quickly got into a vehicle and fled. The second suspect abandoned the cart and ran in the opposite direction. Both men reportedly ignored commands from the officers at the scene.
Through their ongoing investigation, State Police identified Lamay and Coleman as the individuals involved. At the time of their arrest, both men were already incarcerated at the St. Lawrence County Jail on unrelated matters.
Lamay faces charges of grand larceny in the 4th degree, conspiracy in the 5th degree, criminal trespass in the 3rd degree, and obstruction of governmental administration in the 2nd degree.
Coleman is charged with grand larceny in the 4th degree, conspiracy in the 5th degree, and obstruction of governmental administration in the 2nd degree.
Both men were transported from the jail to SP Canton for processing. They were issued appearance tickets to appear before the Town of Potsdam Court in July and were subsequently returned to the custody of the St. Lawrence County Jail.
