Staten Island, NY – On June 3, 2025, Troopers from Troop NYC, SP Staten Island, arrested Joseph Serpe, age 36, of Staten Island, NY, for the following charges: VTL 1192.1 Driving While Ability Impaired, PL 195.07 Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 1st Degree, a class E felony, and PL 205.30 Resisting Arrest, a class A misdemeanor.
Troopers were on patrol when they arrived at a hit and run accident of a motor vehicle on the westbound Staten Island Expressway prior to Exit 7. Â Through an accident investigation, Troopers learned that the accident was caused by a grey Ford Mustang SUV that had fled the scene and continued westbound.
The Troopers were able to locate the vehicle on State Route 440 southbound, in the vicinity of Exit 7, due to the Ford becoming disabled from the accident. FDNY was already on the accident scene and advised the Troopers that the driver of the Ford, identified as Joseph Serpe of Staten Island, had fled on foot into the woods. The two Troopers pursued, located, and arrested Serpe who was hiding in the marsh.
