Springfield Property Vandalized Twice in May: State Police Seek Public’s Help

In a troubling development out of Otsego County, the New York State Police at Richfield Springs are actively investigating a pair of break-ins and acts of vandalism that occurred at a property located on State Highway 80 in the town of Springfield. The authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the individuals responsible.

The incidents unfolded on two separate occasions — the first just after midnight on May 18, and the second around 2 a.m. on May 25. In both cases, the perpetrators inflicted extensive damage inside the property, causing thousands of dollars in destruction.

Springfield Scene Marred by Burglary and Destruction

Police reports indicate that multiple suspects were involved. Surveillance footage provided crucial visual evidence: one photo clearly depicts a suspect’s face, while another image confirms the presence of multiple individuals at the crime scene.

The extent of the damage was significant. The vandals broke several windows and smashed toilets and sinks. In a further act of destruction, they damaged the building’s plumbing and tore down sections of ductwork, exacerbating the cost of repairs.
