Early Morning Traffic Stop Leads to Cocaine Arrest in Southeast, NY
A 3:00 a.m. traffic stop in the Town of Southeast led to drug charges for a Connecticut man after Troopers say they found cocaine in his vehicle.
Driver Pulled Over for Traffic Violations
On June 15, 2025, around 3:27 a.m., New York State Troopers from the Brewster barracks stopped a 2018 Audi that was heading west on Danbury Road. According to police, the vehicle was pulled over for multiple violations of New York traffic laws.
The driver, 42-year-old Jose A. Gonzalez from Brookfield, Connecticut, was the only person in the car. Troopers said he showed signs of being under the influence and failed a series of roadside sobriety tests.
Cocaine Found in Vehicle
After the failed sobriety tests, Troopers searched the Audi and found about 12.2 grams of cocaine. Gonzalez was immediately taken into custody.
Charges Filed
Gonzalez now faces several charges, including:

Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug in the 4th Degree, a class C felony

Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, both class A misdemeanors

Court Appearance Scheduled
Gonzalez was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance, meaning he didn’t have to post bail. He is scheduled to return to court on July 8, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
