On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at approximately 3:20 PM, a member of the Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division noticed an active disturbance in the 400 block of West Court Street. The officer observed a male and female engaged in a dispute in the roadway and immediately intervened.
During the investigation, the officer identified the male individual as Dingoni Burns. While speaking with Burns, the officer discovered a loaded handgun in his possession. Burns was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Rome Police Department for processing.
Burns has been charged with the following:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm
- Two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
- Two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Following processing, Burns was transported to the Oneida County Jail, where he is being held pending
arraignment.
