Rep. John W. Mannion on Micron’s $200B U.S. Investment & Federal Agreement

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today released the following statement on Micron’s new agreement with the federal government and commitment to expand U.S. investments to $200B:

“Micron’s new agreement with the federal government — including major new investments in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing — reaffirms its strong commitment to the Clay, New York project.

The Clay fabs remain central to America’s strategy to restore leadership in chip innovation and to safeguard our national economic and technological future. The progress and long-term vision for this facility demonstrate that Micron and Central New York are ready to lead in advanced manufacturing, national security, and supply chain resilience.

To maintain this momentum, we must pair historic private investment with forward-thinking, bipartisan policy. That’s why I proudly cosponsor both the Building Advanced Semiconductors Investment Credit (BASIC) Act and the Infrastructure Project Acceleration Act — two vital bills that will modernize permitting, reduce delays, and keep New York State and the United States globally competitive, all while upholding strong environmental protections and public transparency.

Micron’s announcement proves that strategic investment, strong partnerships at every level of government, and bipartisan leadership can drive American progress. I look forward to continuing my work on infrastructure, workforce development, and community investments that will bring the Clay project to completion — and deliver on the promise of a stronger, more secure future for Central New York and the nation.”
