Aurand, 49, of Port Royal, PA, was discovered to be operating with suspended New York driving privileges and displaying signs of impairment.
During the ensuing investigation, with invaluable assistance from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office K‑9 unit Praga, troopers found a loaded handgun equipped with an illegal high‑capacity magazine in Aurand’s vehicle. This discovery led to his arrest on charges that include Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (a Class C violent felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (a Class D felony), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWI), in addition to multiple traffic violations.
