Troopers Seek Public’s Help to Identify Individual in June 2nd Incident
The New York State Police in Ithaca are asking for the public’s help identifying a man captured on surveillance footage at the Best Buy in Lansing, Tompkins County.
On June 2, 2025, shortly after 5:00 p.m., the man picked up a boxed computer monitor from the store’s online order counter. However, investigators say the item wasn’t his and had been ordered by someone else.
Incident Details
The man was seen calmly exiting the store with the box and walking toward the parking lot. He was last observed getting into a light green Toyota Prius. No further identifying details, such as a license plate, were released.
As of now, police have not confirmed whether the incident is being treated as a theft or a case of mistaken identity. However, they are seeking to speak with the individual to clear up the situation.
