Niskayuna Man Arrested After Cocaine Seizure on Taconic State Parkway

Location: Taconic State Parkway, Dutchess County, NY

On Monday, June 30, 2025, members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) conducted a traffic stop on a Ford sedan traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway for a violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The driver, identified as Tamar W. Knight, 41, of Niskayuna, NY, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. State Police K9 Wild performed an exterior sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 1,436 grams of cocaine concealed in the trunk.

During the search, Knight attempted to flee on foot but was immediately apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

Knight was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (Class A-I felony)
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree – Intent to Sell (Class B felony)
  • Obstruction of Governmental Administration (Class A misdemeanor)

Knight was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
