MVCC recognized as national leader in institutional innovation at Watermark Conference
Mohawk Valley Community College was recognized as a national leader in institutional innovation at the Watermark Engage Conference, held June 4-6, 2025, in Washington, D.C. MVCC was one of three institutions honored for driving transformation on campus and achieving measurable results.
This year’s conference theme, “Tell Your Story,” celebrated colleges and universities demonstrating clear impact in today’s evolving higher education landscape. MVCC received the Innovation Award for its exceptional work in transforming institutional planning and assessment — successfully launching a fully integrated, campus-wide process in just six months. At the heart of MVCC’s success was its commitment to inclusive engagement. From the start, faculty, staff, and administrators played an active role — shaping goals, contributing ideas, and participating in training and feedback sessions. This collective approach fostered broad ownership and dramatically increased participation in assessment activities across departments. This achievement reflects both visionary leadership and a strong culture of collaboration, supported by strategic use of Watermark’s Planning & Self-Study platform.
Accepting the award on behalf of the College was Brad Dixon, Coordinator of Assessment and Academic Programming at MVCC. He was accompanied by Adam Palmer, Director of Special Projects for Learning and Academic Affairs. Both Dixon and Palmer have been instrumental in the success of this initiative.
