Munson Hosts Cloud Workshops with “Celestial Bodies”

“Celestial Bodies” cloud workshops provide ethereal experience at Munson

Utica, N.Y. — Munson will host a series of Cloud Exploration workshops throughout September that complement the Museum’s breathtaking exhibition “Celestial Bodies: Sculpture by Karen LaMonte, which features cloud formations sculpted in glass, marble, and stone. These enlightening workshops will give Munson’s visitors an opportunity to create their own artistic versions of clouds in various media while receiving guidance and tips from talented Pratt Munson faculty and adjunct instructors.

Workshops include:

  • Watercolor Clouds with Annette Gurdo, 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13

  • Acrylic and Oil Clouds with Chad Smith, 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20

  • Cyanotype Clouds with Sarah Smith, 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27

Participants can take one workshop or all three. Tickets are $35 for Munson Members and $45 for the general public. Visit munson.art for tickets and more information.

“Celestial Bodies: Sculpture by Karen LaMonte” features the extraordinary artwork of contemporary artist Karen LaMonte, one of the most celebrated sculptors of our time. The exhibition is on view now through Dec. 31 at Munson Museum of Art. More information is available at munson.art.
