Former Omega Institute Employee Accused of Slashing Tires, Breaking Into Kitchen
Over 30 Vehicles Damaged in Clinton, NY — Police Say Ex-Worker Sought Revenge
CLINTON, NY — State Police say a former employee at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies is behind a string of property damage and a break-in that shocked staff and visitors earlier this week.
Around 11:53 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, troopers from the Rhinebeck barracks were called to the Omega Institute, located at 140 Lake Drive in the Town of Clinton, following reports of vandalism.
When troopers arrived, they found a troubling scene: at least 30 vehicles had been tampered with—each one with at least one tire slashed. As investigators looked deeper, they also uncovered signs of a burglary at the institute’s kitchen.
According to police, the person responsible is Michael V. Fitzpatrick, 27, of Pine Plains, NY. Fitzpatrick was a former kitchen employee at Omega who had recently been let go from his position.
Charges Filed
Following a joint investigation by Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Fitzpatrick was arrested on Wednesday, June 18. He faces the following charges:

Burglary in the 3rd Degree (D Felony) – for allegedly entering the institute’s kitchen unlawfully with intent to commit a crime.

Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree (31 counts, E Felony) – for allegedly slashing the tires of 31 vehicles, causing damage valued at more than $250 each.
Fitzpatrick was arraigned in Clinton Town Court and has been released under probation supervision. He is scheduled to appear back in court on August 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
