CARTHAGE, NY – A Carthage man faces charges after an alleged physical altercation that occurred on the evening of May 29, 2025, according to State Police.
Troopers responded to a report of a fight at an apartment on Bridge Street in the village of Carthage, Jefferson County, at approximately 7:19 p.m. Upon arrival, they found an individual with a head injury. State Police provided initial medical assistance to the victim until the Carthage Area Rescue Squad arrived and took over care.
The investigation revealed that Timothy D. O’Connor, 28, of Carthage, NY, allegedly went to the apartment and confronted the victim, with whom he was acquainted. According to police, a verbal dispute escalated, and O’Connor is accused of striking the victim multiple times with a closed fist. O’Connor had reportedly left the scene before police arrived.
State Police subsequently located O’Connor at his residence. After questioning, he was arrested and transported to SP Carthage for processing.
O’Connor has been charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Criminal Trespass in the 2nd Degree, also a Class A Misdemeanor. He was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Champion Court at a later date.
