Buffalo Woman Arrested for Allegedly Smuggling Drugs into Greenhaven Correctional Facility
BEEKMAN, NY – A Buffalo woman has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors after allegedly attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of drugs and other contraband into the Greenhaven Correctional Facility on Saturday.
According to the New York State Police, a Trooper from the SP Poughkeepsie barracks was dispatched to the maximum-security prison in the Town of Beekman on June 14, 2025, following a report of a visitor introducing contraband.
An investigation at the facility led authorities to identify the visitor as Dawn M. Jones-Mills, 60, of Buffalo, NY. Investigators determined that Jones-Mills had allegedly smuggled over 200 pills and approximately 26 pieces of legal paper that had been treated with an unidentified substance into the prison.
Jones-Mills was arrested and is facing several charges, including:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree with intent to sell, a class D felony.
- Knowingly Introducing Dangerous Contraband into a Prison in the 1st Degree, a class D felony.
- Two counts of Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Following her arrest, Jones-Mills was arraigned in the Town of Beekman Court. She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to reappear in court on June 26, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
The New York State Police have stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
