9:30 AM – 10:40 AM
WHERE:
L.V. Denti Elementary School
1001 Ruby Street
Rome, NY 13440
WHY:
The Summer Reading Challenge is an annual initiative that promotes literacy by encouraging students in grades K–6 to read at least 15 minutes a day for 40 days during July and August. Students track their progress using an official reading calendar provided by the Assemblywoman’s office. Those who complete the challenge are eligible to receive a New York State Assembly Excellence in Reading Certificate.
This initiative helps combat summer learning loss and encourages reading as a joyful, lifelong habit. The Assemblywoman’s visit reflects her commitment to supporting local schools, uplifting students, and promoting educational equity across the Mohawk Valley.
