Assemblywoman Buttenschon Honors Local Women Veterans at Statewide Recognition Event in Albany

Albany, NY – Today, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon proudly invited and accompanied three distinguished women veterans from the Veterans Outreach Center in Utica to Albany for the Annual Women Veterans Recognition Day Event hosted by Assemblywoman Pamela J. Hunter.

The honorees, Pauline Bright, Patricia Duciaume, and Randi Robbins, were recognized at the New York State Capitol during a special program held in “The Well” of the Legislative Office Building. The event featured a keynote speaker, veteran service vendors, and a formal resolution and recognition ceremony in the Assembly Chamber to honor the contributions of women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

“It is a profound privilege to uplift the voices and sacrifices of these remarkable women veterans from our region,” said Assemblywoman Buttenschon. “Their service has strengthened our nation, and today we ensured their legacy was honored in our State’s capital. I thank Assemblywoman Hunter for continuing this important tradition.”

This annual event serves as a prelude to Women Veterans Day, formally recognized each year on June 12, commemorating the historic day the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act was signed into law in 1948, allowing women to officially serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. military.

Assemblywoman Buttenschon remains a staunch advocate for veterans and military families and continues working closely with local and state organizations to ensure that the contributions of all veterans, especially women, receive the honor and visibility they deserve.
