American Red Cross Aids Four After Vernon Fire

UTICA, NY (July 14, 2025) – Volunteers from the Central and Northern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to four people after a fire early Saturday morning on Day Road in Vernon, Onieda County. At least 30 pets perished in the fire.
The Red Cross provided financial assistance which can be used for necessities such as shelter, food, and clothing to three adults and one child, age 15. Volunteers also offered emotional support, health services, and comfort kits containing personal care items. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.
