The Stars of the Show
The Rising Stars Fife and Drum Band
Fresh off of their recent 2025 Governor’s Arts Award from the Mississippi, and recent inclusion in the soundtrack of the new major film “Sinners,” The Rising Stars Fife and Drum Band are a group of talented musicians from Tate County, Mississippi. This ensemble has captivated audiences nationwide with their genre-defying sound and electrifying performances. The members of Rising Stars share a deep connection rooted in their upbringing, which shines through in their music. Known for blending influences and jumping across genres, they bring a dynamic and powerful energy to every stage they grace. Their performance promises to be a highlight of the evening.
Dr. Doreen Ketchens, “Lady Louie”
The legendary Dr. Doreen Ketchens, hailed as “Lady Louie” and often compared to jazz icons like Louis Armstrong and Charlie Parker, will grace the stage with her extraordinary talent. Known for her unique blend of classical training and soulful jazz, Dr. Ketchens redefines what the clarinet can achieve. Her performances, which seamlessly incorporate gospel, blues, R&B, classical, and jazz, have earned her a reputation as one of the most captivating musicians of our time. A recipient of a doctorate in music from Five Towns College, Dr. Ketchens has been featured in numerous television shows, films, and music videos, including appearances on “Treme” (HBO) and CBS Sunday Morning. Her passion and artistry promise to take the audience on a transformative musical journey.
