Rome PD: Animal Cruelty Complaint

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at around 12:12 PM, the Rome Police Patrol Division was  alerted to a possible animal cruelty complaint by the Humane Society of Rome involving a dog  that was currently in their custody. The dog had a significant leg injury that appeared to have been  neglected. The investigation revealed the dog had injuries that included a broken jaw and a  severely broken leg. The injuries to the dog’s leg were so severe it required amputation. Said  investigation found the owner, Carrie J. Bush, failed to provide the dog with adequate treatment. 

On Monday, June 02, 2025, Carrie J. Bush 32 yrs old, of Rome, was taken into custody for  violation of Agriculture and Market Law 353, Failure to provide sustenance, a class A  misdemeanor. While in custody Bush was found to be in possession of a quantity of  Methamphetamine. She was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled  Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor. Carrie J. Bush was held for arraignment and  then released pending a later court date.
