Munson kicks off book tour, hosts “Wondrous Mrs. Claus” event and signing
Utica, N.Y. — At 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, Canadian author Pamela McColl will kick off her international book tour for “Wondrous Mrs. Claus: A Literary and Pictorial Review of the Christmas Character” with an illuminating talk and book signing event at Munson Museum of Art in the Bank of Utica–Sinnott Family Auditorium in downtown Utica.
“Wondrous Mrs. Claus” is an exploration of Santa’s partner-in-joy through art and literature over the past two centuries. McColl will also discuss Munson and Utica connections to the fascinating story of Mrs. Claus’ rise to fame in the mid-1800s.
McColl is a publisher, lecturer, and award-winning author who studied art and history at the University of Manitoba. She published “’Twas the Night Before Christmas, edited by Santa Claus for the Benefit of Children of the 21st Century” in 2013. In 2022, she published “’Twas the Night: The Art and History of the Classic Christmas Poem,” the first cultural history to be published of the highly celebrated poem.
This event heralds Munson’s annual holiday tradition, “Yuletide: Fancy Goods,” during which the period rooms of Fountain Elms are decorated for the season, this year inspired by the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal.
