17-Year-Old Halfmoon Resident Arrested on Terrorism-Related Charges
HALFMOON, NYÂ – A 17-year-old Halfmoon resident has been arrested and charged with multiple serious offenses including terrorism-related crimes following a multi-agency investigation that began in June 2025.
Initial Arrest and Investigation
On June 17, 2025, the New York State Police of Clifton Park, working in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, arrested the juvenile on charges of Making a Threat of Mass Harm.
The investigation was launched after State Police received information about concerning statements of violence made by the teenager online. The threatening nature of these statements prompted immediate action from law enforcement agencies.
Search Warrant Execution
Following the initial reports, investigators executed a search warrant at the suspect’s Halfmoon residence. The search yielded disturbing evidence, including:
- Written materials supporting acts of terrorism
- Electronic media containing terrorist-related content
- Incendiary device-making materials
- Instruction manuals detailing how to construct incendiary devices
- Various weapons
Initial Processing and Release
After the arrest, the juvenile was transported to the State Police Clifton Park barracks for processing. Initially, the teenager was released to a guardian and referred to the Saratoga County Probation Department for monitoring.
Additional Charges Filed
On July 3, 2025, following extensive review of the evidence collected from the residence and in partnership with the Saratoga County District Attorney’s office, additional serious charges were filed against the 17-year-old:
- Soliciting or Providing Support for an Act of Terrorism in the second degree
- Criminal Possession of a Chemical Weapon or Biological Weapon in the first degree
Court Proceedings
The juvenile was arraigned at the Saratoga County Youth Part Court, where a judge determined the severity of the charges warranted detention. The teenager was remanded without bail to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Center in Albany, NY.
